Feeling silly, so: bold the cities you've visited. Preferably, in the spirit of the song, those you've driven through. Bonus points if you've lived in any of them...

Chicago, IL (I-90 / I-80)
St. Louis, MO (I-70, I-44)
Joplin, MO (I-44)
Oklahoma City, OK (I-40, I-35)
Amarillo, TX (I-40, I-27)
Gallup, NM (I-40)
Flagstaff, AZ (I-40, I-17)
Winona, AZ (I-40)
Kingman, AZ (I-40)
Barstow, CA (I-15, I-40)
San Bernadino, CA (I-10, I-15)
Los Angeles, CA (I-10, I-5)

Update: The point, of course, is for you to post this in your own journal. :)

Re: you need to travel more

I do need to travel more. And I made an error. I did NOT go through Kingman, AZ. I mistook that for another place in AZ.

For some reason I thought you drove most of that leg of the '40. But I might have been wrong.

We hit Gallup, Winona, and Flagstaff. You've also taken the train through L.A. (and we drove up there for the show.)

You're on your own for the rest. :)

Re: technicalities

Yes, I drove that bit and remember driving through all of those towns more than once. What I missed was from Flagstaff to SD.

Re: technicalities

What I missed was from Flagstaff to SD.

Well, I-40 mostly follows "Historic" US-66 from at least Amarillo through Barstow. There are a few deviations, usually because it went through the developed part of town, and it was cheaper to put the interstate somewhere else. Albuquerque is a prime example: consider putting the interstate where Central runs...

So the fact that you stopped driving about the same time we got off I-40 means that we didn't hit any of the other cities along the way. If you do decide to check out the Grand Canyon on the way back, the fastest way is up I-15 then over I-40, and you'll hit the rest of 'em that way.
