Fear and Loathing in Internet Explorer [Sep. 29th, 2003|03:16 am]
Tkil

Sigh. So this is what I get for not checking this sooner, but the fact that IE doesn't interpret the ' entity is a major annoyance.

But it's also something like 95% of the market. So I'll probably go back and either change them to plain old uninflected single ticks (ASCII 0x27, as in this entry) or maybe try to invoke the Unicode magic (code point U+2019). But not tonight.

Late night

Why was I up past 3:00? A part of it is that it took me that long to writeup the bike ride. The other reason is that I am, of course, a flaming idiot.

I like the thought of Tony as a zombie.. yes.. I'm picturing a guest role in "Buffy" as I type!

yes its a major pain in the ass for web designers. The only good thing is that IE supports Iframes, Css, and Css-. where as netscape does not.

I just wish they'd all have the same compatibilty it would make life a lot easier.

Web Standard of Living

Hm. When you say “Netscape” do you mean the old version 4.xx browsers, or are you including Mozilla?

I'm curious, as the reason that the ' got through so many posts is that I've done all of them in Mozilla (version 1.4, either on Mac OS X or Linux)... and they looked fine.

And my general understanding was that Mozilla's support for most web standards was superior to IE's. Then again, I only abuse the damn things. (And do things like develop JavaScript in Mozilla then make it work in IE. Heh.)

p.s. Did you notice the inline skater in the bike ride writeup and gallery? :)
