A pleasant evening at home [Sep. 11th, 2003|12:45 am]
[mood |contemplativecontemplative]
[music |This Mortal Coil - filigree & shadow - Tarantula]

Missing one party, remanant bliss from an excellent concert, the neighborhood food brain, and music for exits.

Apologies to marieofroumania for not attending her going-away-from-home-back-to-home party. I wasn't up to meeting a bunch of new people tonight. :(

On happier notes, I'm still pretty damned happy from last night's show. Wonderful music that I know so well, the gorgeous vocalists, the frenetic stage show, the tuned-in crowd. And getting to spend more time with J, which doesn't happen nearly as often as it should!

I was going to eat really healthily tonight; I stopped by the local market and bought salad fixin's. I even went ahead and made the salad (romaine lettuce, celery, and cucumber, with basalmic vinegrette). Then I started making some fruit salad (watermelon, grapes, and pineapple — mostly leftovers from a weekend of visitors).

Note to self: there is an awful lot of watermelon inside of a watermelon. (And this watermelon was oh so yummy!)

They claim I'm developing a psychic skill for it, but it's purely coincidence that H & J were taking some tuna casserole out of the oven just as I came over. So I just had to have some, right? Right?

I felt a little bad, actually; I jokingly pointed out how cute I found it, that both of them were on cell phones talking to different people ... apparently J was a bit put out with H for being on the phone. Ooops. Instead of nibbling on toes, I was of course trying to eat my whole foot.

Any way, the fruit salad was a big hit. Here's hoping that my coworkers will help me kill off the rest of it tomorrow. (And I still have half the watermelon! Help!)

A quiet evening otherwise. Helped cheer a friend up through the miracle of MP3 file sharing. Did dishes. Am getting quietly trashed on some lovely Stone Brewing beers — specifically, the “Smoky Indian”, three parts I.P.A. to one part Smoked Porter — and chilling out to The Big Sonic Chill playing This Mortal Coil's “Meniscus” and “Tarantula”.

Not a bad way to spend the evening.

I went to Stone Brewing's website and what did I find? Stone Ruination IPA. Stone Ruination. Ruination. I think I like that one even better than Arrogant Bastard.
