Conspiracy Theory [Sep. 11th, 2003|09:39 pm]
[mood |cynicalcynical]
[music |the soft hiss of the sprinkler system]

Someone brought up the concept of conspiracy theories on the work IRC server today, in the context of whether the Bush Administration was really just a front for something more sinister. I've been accused of believing conspiracy theories myself, and I felt the urge to clarify my stance:

See, that's the thing that's hard to explain. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, at least not in the traditional sense.

I'm more of a machiavellian (or however one would make that an "ism"...)

To me, it's all about people in power wanting to stay in power, get more power, etc.

Money and power are largely fungible, so that works just as well...

If groups of people decide that working in a certain way increases their power, it looks like a conspiracy ... but ther's no Illuminati, just people being selfish (in a potentially bad way).
