Without much ado.
Had a great time in Denver; visiting with the family was less stressful than I imagined it would be, and I got to see some old friends.
The Wizard’s Chest and The Tattered Cover still rock my world.
My friend J is lovely, and it was fantastic to hang out with her. Especially since this was our last chance before a pretty big life change for her — she’s marrying another friend of mine in June. Exciting! (And a bit amazing, considering that I’m pretty sure I’m the one who introduced them in the first place, nearly ten years ago...)
I’m bummed that I missed elusis at the goth night, but I didn’t do much planning in the first place. And I had a good time gawking at the cute goth girls there anyway, and danced a fair bit, and then went home to wash the reek of smoke off me and cough up half a lung. Gag. I’m so spoiled by the California no-smoking laws...
Visiting with nirik is always pleasant; he’s truly a geek’s geek. And he has a bevy of adorable pets, all of whom are sweet (even if they do cause my head to explode with allergy doom.)
All in all, I’m reminded that trips like this are one of the main things that keep me going; they’re my reward (and often the reason) that I keep going to a sometimes-boring job. For someone who doesn’t have any long-term goals, visits like this (and my trip to N.M. over New Year’s, and road trips and train jaunts and drop-in visits over the years) are one of the few things that consistently make me very happy.
