Failure [Apr. 25th, 2004|12:45 am]
[mood |tiredtired]

So, I didn’t complete the 30-mile Alpine Challenge ride Saturday morning. Overheated, and I probably needed to balance my hydration with more electrolytes (which is a long way of saying: my legs were fine, but I was sweating like a pig).

Did make it 27 miles or so, but that doesn’t count for much when those last 3 miles contain another couple hundred feet of climb:

30 mile ride profile

On the plus side, it was a very friendly ride, great support, and the food and drink afterwards was plentiful, tasty, and free/cheap. Good times.

If I actually manage to get out on my bike more often this year and do some real training rides, I might actually go for the metric century next year — although since I couldn’t even finish the 30-mile ride today, that might be asking a bit much...

Bike Day.

Actually, good job. I'd probably have fallen over dead by mile 3 of the climb. However, I got inspired to start looking at mountain bikes again. I don't remember if I ever told you about my old Trek and how it was spirited away in the dead of night(my fault for leaving in the back yard "locked up")Anyway, my housemate has a nice K2 Evo 4.0 that he never rides. I was thinking about making an offer on it when my finances stabilize.
