Beth Preston opened the show, and she was lovely (both aurally and visually); if I had a complaint with her, it's just that I haven't listened to her stuff enough to find out what to grab onto that hasn't already been done to death. Lots of over-emotive singer-songwriter stuff.
The middle act was one White Buffalo, who was... hm. I think I was neither stoned nor drunk enough to fully appreciate his music. A Johnny Cash cover snuck in, but a little too much feeling and not enough enunciation for my tastes. All of his songs started blurring together by the end of his set...
Mr. Rudd finally came on, and even having seen him twice before, I was completely blown away. If you enjoy live music and/or like world music (especially the textures of the didgeridoo), you should see if he's touring anywhere near you and go see him. Fantastic, and hearing a great didj amplified on a good PA system was literally earthshaking.
The other observation for tonight is that there are a metric boatload of attractive people in San Diego, and many of them were at the show tonight. Criminy! I got a few comments on my Clumsy Lovers shirt, and chatted briefly with a cutie whom is shockingly close to being raindancer's clone. (Not that I mind, as having more people who look like her will only make the world a more beautiful place!)
And with that, I think I'm going to try to collapse. Tomorrow will be busy -- have laundry to do before the lovely deliriumdreams shows up this weekend, but I also ran into one of the percussionists for the monthly bellydancing show at Claire de Lune at the show tonight, so now I want to go to that as well. Gah! Need more hours in the day!
